Our Mission

The purpose of the Community Coordinating Council is to work in partnerships to improve the well-being of children, families and individuals in Caledonia and Southern Essex Counties.

We do this by:

  • Improving the availability and quality of services for families and children;
  • Building community coalitions and cooperative problem solving;
  • Developing services to meet family needs; and
  • Dispersing grant monies and Federal and State block grants.

Coordination and planning for early childhood and family services.

Coordinated crisis services for family and youth.

Parent Help Network and Advocates

Coordinating multi-agency team work affecting:

  • Healthy newborns
  • Summer programs for children
  • Building Caring Communities Alliance

CUPS (Children's Upstream Services)

Mental health services for children aged 0 to 6 and their families.

Community Education

Vermont's Children's Forum community meeting.

Parent Advocacy Training provided by the Vermont Federation for Children's Mental Health.

Family and School Partnership Skills Training provided by the Department of Education BEST program.

Cosponsors of the Ad Hoc Committee on Mental Health and Substance Abuse: Community Forum on the Future of Our Mental Health Services.

  • Address unmet family needs through creative, cooperative programs.

Who Participates in the Community Council?

Area school personnel

Local offices of State agencies including Social and Rehabilitative Services, and the Departments of Health, Social Welfare, Corrections, Education, Employment and Training

Locally based services including Northeast Kingdom Mental Health, Northeast Kingdom Community Action, Parent Child Centers, Youth Services, The Youth Wellness Center, Northern Counties Health Care, Umbrella, Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital, Adult Basic Education, Area Agency on Aging

Other community resources including the Recreation Department, St. Johnsbury Police, UVM Extension Service, Workforce Investment Board, School to Work Program, the Clergy
