North Congregational Church is located at 1325 Main Street in St. Johnsbury. Sunday services are at 10 am and Church School classes for all ages are at 9 am. Child care is available for the 10 am service. Our pastor is the Rev. Jay Sprout. Jay holds a Master of Divinity degree from Yale Divinity School and has been serving North Church for 20 years. North Congregational Church is a congregation of the United Church of Christ and an active member of the Vermont Conference and the Northeast Association. Our purpose is to worship God, to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to celebrate the sacraments; to realize Christian fellowship and unity--within this Church and the Church Universal; to render loving service toward humankind; to be responsible stewards of creation and to strive for righteousness, justice and peace. Believing in the equality of all people before God and recognizing that no creed can fully express the nature of God or describe the totality of God's work in the world, our doors are open to everyone. North Church enjoys a special partnership with its sister South Church. In addition to long-standing joint programs for youth, the churches have launched a cooperative Sunday morning Christian education program. Lynda Markison, a student at Andover-Newton Theological School, is director of this new venture. |
