  • Founded in 1962, REACT (Radio Emergency Associated Citizens Teams) is an independent, non-profit Public Service organization fully approved by the IRS to receive tax-deductible contributions. REACT holds a charitable organization status in Canada, as well, allowing Canadian Teams to receive tax-deductible contributions.
  • REACT Teams provide thousands of hours of volunteer service weekly.
  • Caledonia County REACT, Inc. was formed in 1973 after severe flooding the need for such a group of volunteers. Our Northeast Kingdom of Vermont members have served continuously in the area since pointed out the that time.
  • REACT Safety Breaks provide several million cups of coffee and other refreshments annually to weary travellers.
  • Since 1977, Caledonia County REACT, Inc., has served over 146,900 cups of coffee and in excess of 6,253 dozen donuts to more than 132,267 guests.
  • REACT Members use Citizens Band (CB) Radio, General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) and Amateur (Ham) Radio in their volunteer work. Members purchase and maintain their own equipment, which is supplemented by Team-owned communications gear.
  • REACT's motto is. "Public Service through Communications."
  • REACT has won many forms of recognition, including the President's Volunteer Action Award from President Ronald Reagan.
  • Caledonia County REACT, Inc., provides communications assistance and other support for traffic accidents, fires, parades, Lyndonville's Annual Stars & Stripes Festival, the Northeast Kingdom Home Show, the St. Johnsbury Lion's Club Fall Foliage Festival and 1st Night St. Johnsbury. In addition, Team members staff Coffee Safety Breaks eight week-ends a year.
  • Membership in REACT is open to anyone interested in furthering the public service work of the organization. Information may be obtained by writing or calling us anytime, or by leaving your name and address with the REACT Member who is serving you.
